Original Vintage Poster - Électricité de France, circa 1950 - Paul Colin
This poster, signed by Paul Colin around 1950, perfectly captures the spirit of post-war France and its drive for modernization. Created as a lithograph and published by Éditions du Bélier, it promoted a progressive interest premium loan aimed at financing a more efficient electrical distribution network - a true symbol of optimism and technical progress.
The visual design is both simple and striking: set against a deep blue background, a stylized figure made entirely of electric wires embodies energy in motion. A lightbulb forms the head, with a plug on one side and sparks on the other - clearly evoking the promise of a modern and reliable current distributed by EDF. It’s a great example of Paul Colin’s graphic approach, blending abstraction with visual impact.
The poster has been backed on linen for preservation and is in excellent condition (Condition A): the colors remain vibrant, the contrasts sharp, and the message just as compelling more than 70 years later. Measuring 30.3 x 22.4 inches, this is a beautiful piece for collectors of graphic art, vintage design, or the industrial history of France.
