This original Air France travel poster dating from 1951 is signed by Alexis Kow and was a printed lithography made by Havas. Born in Moscow, Kow is a French artist who blossomed in the 1930s, making his mark at the early age of 21, working for Panhard and other car manufacturers. He also designed travel posters for the French Riviera which he was personally very fond of. The mens’ 4-bobsleigh team is pictured here speeding past a pair of skis under a Constellation airplane, seemingly inviting people to: “take a plane to go skiing, the plane is the transport of choice for athletes”. This two-poster campaign (the second vintage poster was by Jean Colin) to promote winter sports is the first of its kind for the company.
