This original travel poster dating from 1951 is signed by illustrator Plaque, who often worked for Air France in the post-war years. In the ‘50s, the airline company started expanding its network and offered international flights to North America via its alliances with ‘’Northwest Airlines, Eastern Air Lines, United Airlines, Colonial Airlines, Delta Air Lines, National Airlines, Trans-Canada Air Lines, Capital Airlines, American Airlines, Braniff International Airways, Avianca and LAV’. The American continent is pictured in various shades of greens and earthy tones, atop a blue background, with several monuments, attractions and forests highlighting the wealth of the American landscape. Built between 1943 and 1958, the legendary Lockheed Constellation plane, depicted many times on this vintage poster, hints at the many travel possibilities offered by the company.
