Vintage travel poster - Air France Réseau aérien mondial - Plaquet - 1948 - 39 by 24.6 inches

Original Vintage Air France Poster - World Air Network, by Plaquet - 1948

Created in 1948 by the artist Plaquet, this poster majestically illustrates Air France’s global ambition in the early postwar era. Entitled “World Air Network,” it celebrates the expansion of a network that had become, at the time, a symbol of a new age of mobility and modernity.

Set against a sky-blue background with subtle gradients, the Earth is depicted in all its grandeur, adorned with elegant white wave lines that evoke international air routes. At its center shines the iconic winged seahorse - Air France’s emblem - radiating like a mythological seal, merging classical heritage with skyward conquest. Two white aircrafts, light and dynamic, punctuate the composition, reinforcing the airline’s presence across the globe’s major airways.

Printed by Perceval in Paris, this period lithograph measures approximately 39 x 24.6 inches. It is linen-backed and preserved in A condition, with vibrant colors and excellent structural integrity. A work of sleek yet striking design, it belongs to the great visual campaigns that helped shape Air France’s prestigious image throughout the 20th century.
